Sebastian Sunday

I'm not a big fan of Daylight Saving, but hey! who is?! Every time it comes back around, I end up feeling sluggish & lazy for the first week while I adjust. So I'm not doing any work today. Instead, here's what Sebastian is doing today.

Yiynova Test Drive

Kevin's co-worker recently bought himself a Wacom Cintiq Companion so he let us borrow his 19in Yiynova. For those of you who haven’t heard of it, Yiynova is one of the most popular alternatives to a Wacom Cintiq (drawing tablet monitor). It costs a fraction of the price at just under $600 vs. $1800 for a Cintiq. I did this quick little doodle of my cat, and I like it so far. I’m just too used to drawing on the actual surface of whatever I’m working on, so I’ve struggled with using an Intuos. I think having one of these could definitely improve my workflow too. Now I just have to save up some money for one!

Brushing Up

I took some time off from all my holiday show production to do a little bit of sketching. I played around with a Pentel brush pen and tried to become more comfortable using it. I love that it's way more convenient than using a brush & ink and that the brush pen has a refillable cartridge. Here's are a few of my favorites from my sketchbook this week.

The Glass is Face Full

Tonight, Sebastian was roaming around the desk being his mischievous self when he did something he's never done before. He took a plunge head first into an IKEA glass not full of water. Yep, he stuck his face into the glass just to lick up the 1/4in. of water on the bottom. His water bowl was filled to the brim all day, so he wasn't dying of thirst. Who knows what really drove him to do this other than just being a silly cat.

Workplace Companion

Whenever I'm at work, I almost always see this cat whether it be when I'm arriving or when I'm leaving. There's quite a few stray cats who roam the construction yards near our office. But today, I attempted to befriend this little one. It's actually quite a sweet cat although a little camera shy. I've been wanting to get a second cat so that Sebastian can have a friend to hang out with when I'm away at work, but I can't have a second cat just yet. I really wanted to take this one home.

Happy Birthday Sebastian!

On Sunday, I celebrated Sebastian's 2nd birthday. Two years ago, he was born in my backyard just a day after I had gotten back from visiting my sister in Illinois. He was the only orange one out of a litter of six; the other five being cream kittens. He was named after one of my favorite bands: Belle & Sebastian. He was my first cat ever! Growing up, I always had dogs and never thought I would be a cat person. But now I can definitely say that I'm a total cat person.

I've been wanting to get him a new bed for a while because I felt like he had outgrown his old one. So for his birthday, we got him a cozy little sack. We noticed that he really likes hanging out inside of paper bags and tote bags and under rugs, so we thought this would be the perfect gift for him.

Favorite Place to Sleep: On a pile of unorganized stuff and (on occasion) plastic Target bag

It's not like he doesn't have a bed. He has a nice comfy black plush bed that matches with the majority of decor in my room. He just recently decided to stop sleeping in it.
