And Then a View-Master Appeared, Out of Thin Air

So we were attacked by a mystery gift giver late late last night! There were 2 packages, addressed to Kevin and I (we should’ve taken a picture before opening, but was too excited). Both were wrapped in a faux-wood wallpaper/laminate, but with no indication of whom it was from. This was what Kevin got:
A Parker pen and pencil set, and a red Spacepen, inside a glasses case. Inside the glasses case were 3 random slips of paper, 1 looks to be an address, the yellow has 2 phone numbers, and the other is a Voter stub from Santa Barbara County, dated November 7, 2006.

I got a sweet Vintage View-master with tons of awesome slides.
Whoever this mysterious gifter is, I thank thee!

Vacation? What's That?

no matter how much work i do, i always feel behind. although the semester is over and i'm on winter break, that does not mean vacation for me. i just stopped by Flock Shop yesterday to drop off some more stuff for consignment. i never got around to listing all the leftovers from Co-Lab. in the back of my mind, i know i probably could've made a killing on last minute holiday shoppers and now i have to hope people are looking to gift themselves post-xmas. i'll be spending all of today photographing new items and listing them. as well as making new tags. it seems that i can never have enough tags!

don't even get me started on my portfolio. i'm purposely only taking 6 units next semester to force myself to work hard on my portfolio to get into the BFA for Graphic Design. all-the-while trying to grow my company... well for starters...get to the point where i can deal with the legal stuff and write off yarn purchases on my taxes =)

being a one woman machine gets tough but i wouldn't have it any other way.

Finally! You're Mine!

I am in love with the Donut Tape Dispensors by 3M. These were only made for the Japanese consumer. There's an American version, but they come in weird bright colors like Teal and Magenta. The last time I was at the bookstore in my local Mitsuwa, they only had the Strawberry and Caramel. I went today and they had all 4 flavors. I was pretty tempted to get the Chocolate because it was a dark brown, AND it is also the only flavor that's translucent as opposed to being opaque.

Sweet Panda!

I received these in the mail today from Lindsay of Em & Sprout and Sick for Cute

And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE them. They're super cute and comfy!

At Your Local Japanese Bookstore

I went to Kinokuniya for the first time at Weller Court in Little Tokyo.
And I realized that I should go to japanese bookstores more often, considering there's one 5 minutes away from my house in Santa Ana in the Mitsuwa.

I picked up a copy of Fudge. They called themselves the "New Type Fashion Magazine for girls." I've forgotten just how freaking amazing Japanese fashion mags are! and naturally I picked this up because you know, I love military-inspired, fall/winter wear, and understated femininity.

Feast your eyes on some candy.

And the best part about this was that it only cost me $9.66 after tax, which is cheaper than most of the graphic design magazines I read.

Read for Leisure

I happen to be a huge fan of J.D. Salinger, and yet I still haven't read the Catcher in the Rye. And if you've noticed, I still haven't read it.

One of my goals is to start a new habit, or routine if you will, of reading for leisure. I've found that these days, with basic cable, there's really nothing to watch on tv. I seem to enjoy premium cable channels when I'm at Kevin's house, but when I'm at home I'm constantly channel surfing looking for something to watch. I'm also one of those people who leave the tv on even though I'm not really watching it for the sake of room noise.

So in any case, I've decided to try to devote my free time to reading and rereading awesome novels. The first of which is Franny and Zooey. It was one of the books I chose to read off of a list of required summer reading in high school. and I admit that I never properly read it. Actually, I didn't read most of the books I was supposed to read in high school. I've just never thought of myself as being a very good reader. and by that i mean, i like books and novels and i like reading them. i'm just bad at reading them when they're required. and reading with a deadline.

This also leads to me wanting to redesign the covers for 3 Salinger books for my portfolio. Yet another project idea that i need to execute before March 2010 so I can apply for the BFA program. Fun Stuff!
